OCTOBER 26 - NOVEMBER 2, 2016 BOGOTÁ, COLOMBIA

Colombia is South America’s phoenix risen from the flames and Bogotá is the beating heart. Situated on the country’s highest plateau at 2600m, this city of 7.6 million inhabitants one of the continent’s most vibrant cultural scenes. After four decades of civil war and a reputation for violence in the 1980s and 90s, the hugely improved security conditions make Bogotá an engaging and sophisticated capital.
Though the Colombia of conflict and cartels has largely disappeared, the country still faces enormous social problems. However, the foundations, NGOs, social enterprises and public/private partnerships that form Colombia’s social sector are considered among the most innovative in Latin America. This made Colombia the ideal location for our Fall 2016 Uplifting Journeys program.
